About Me

Hey, I'm Fedir Stepanenko, a junior level and game designer focused on player-driven gameplay. Level design is my main focus: pacing, player flow, spatial thinking, and how systems interact with each other.
My workflow leans on research, documentation, and prototyping. I try to design mechanics and level layout side by side, blocking out spaces early and testing for pacing as I go.
On my projects I've worked across the whole level pipeline as well as game systems: sketching, 2D layouts, blockout, encounter design, and set dressing, using Godot, Unity, and Unreal Engine 5. I also write the documentation (GDDs, feature docs, player docs) that keeps a level's mechanics and layout in sync.
What I want to get good at is mechanics-driven level design: using space to create tension, set rhythm, and put real decisions in the player's hands. I'm looking to grow as a level designer, sharpen my design thinking and iteration process, and find a team that cares about doing solid work.
